First Of 4 Funerals Takes Place After Horror Crash

Hundreds of mourners have packed into Bennekerry Church in Co Carlow for the funeral of Chermaine Carroll.

The folk group from the girls former school St Leo's College in Carlow will sing at their funerals which will take place over the next two days.

Later this afternoon her friend, 19 year old Gemma Nolan, also from Carlow, will be laid to rest after her funeral mass at the Holy Family Church at Askea in Carlow.

Meanwhile, Niamh Doyle, from Carlow, and Ashling Middleton, from Athy, will be buried tomorrow.

Communications Officer with the Catholic Communications Office Brenda Drumm says all of the priests involved in these funerals would have the known the girl's well:
