A Finglas man has been jailed for life for murdering his uncle after an arranged fist fight on the Ballycoolin Road just before Christmas 2013.
David Cully - of Kilsane Road, Finglas - admitted shooting Edward O’Connor in the back - but claimed he was provoked by something he said.
A Victim Impact Statement, read out today on behalf of Edward O’Connor’s widow Charlotte, described him as a hard-working, family man.
The court heard words would never explain the void left by what she described as a “brutal murder”.
The 24-year-old was handed the mandatory life sentence today.
