Final preparations are underway in Co Laois ahead of the sold-out Electric Picnic.

Forty one thousand people will begin converging on Stradbally Hall on Thursday evening for the biggest music festival of the year.

The attendance is 8,000 more than last year and organisers say no more tickets will be going on sale.

Outkast is among the headline acts at this weekend's Electric Picnic which is now into its 11th year.

The three day music and arts event gets underway on Friday with the campsite opening from 9am, although camper vans can get access from Thursday evening.

The wide ranging lineup will include performances from Blondie, Sinead O'Connor, Paolo Nutini and Chic.

The dozens of other acts taking to the stages across the weekend include Beck, Pet Shop Boys, Lily Allen and Hozier.

As well as something for all musical tastes, there's a host of other events to entertain the crowds, with the Body and Soul zone, the Mindfield spoken word arena, the Comedy Tent and Theatre of Food.

Lyndsey Holmes - from LHP Publicity is advising people not to buy tickets from touts..

The weather forecast is looking mixed for the weekend and the advice is to be prepared for all conditions.
