The FAI has confirmed the details of a 5 million euro payment from FIFA following the Thiery Henry handball incident.

The Irish Football Association yesterday gave the exact timeline of events surrounding the payout, saying they were no longer obliged to abide by the confidentiality agreement with world football's governing body.

The FAI insists the money received was accounted for in their 2010 statements and was used to reduce their debt for the construction of the Aviva Stadium.

The Sports Minister Paschal Donohoe has said he had no knowledge of any deal between FIFA and the FAI over the controversial 2010 World Cup playoff.
