'Eyewatering' Amount Spent Already On MetroLink

125 million euro has been spent on the MetroLink before a sod has even been turned on it.

Most of the money has been spent on the application process, design work and environmental studies.

The overall project is expected to cost 9.5 billion euro and is aimed for completion in 2035.

Labour's Transport Spokesperson Duncan Smith believes the situation is a national embarrassment.

He says the huge cost means the project must go ahead.

''The argument is beyond being made. It just has to be delivered. The money being spent so far has been eyewatering. For me, we're past the point of no return.

Let's get on with it. Let's get through planning. Let's get delivering it Because we cant keep living without this vital piece of infrastructure in Swords and Dublin.''
