Eating Disorders Hit Men In Mid 20s

Health experts say the belief that most people suffering from an eating disorder are teenage girls is a myth.

Information from St Patricks Mental Health Services from 2013 shows that men in their mid twenties and women in their late twenties are the primary sufferers.

Intervention has been identified as the first step in assisting those with anorexia and bulimia, however most people seeking help have had an eating disorder for five years or more.

Sarah Surgenor, Communications Manager at St Patrick's Mental Health Services says that the average age of women attending the hospital last year was 27:
