Dubliners Line The Liffey Banks In Solidarity With Refugees

The first group of refugees have arrived in Germany after travelling though Hungary and Austria.

450 made it to Munich train station and will be taken to a nearby emergency registration centre.

German police say up to 10,000 more will join them after Hungary helped transport them through the country to the Austrian border.

Meanwhile here at home scores of campaigners lined the banks of the River Liffey this afternoon in solidarity with refugees for a minutes silence.

'Uplift Ireland' say over 12,000 people have offered to open their homes to asylum seekers and are now challenging Enda Kenny to match that total.

The group say government aren't doing enough and have been meeting at famine memorials around the country to remind us of our own migrant past.
