A teenage girl from Dublin, who was injured at Hook Head in Co Wexford last weekend has died.
The girl was one of two teenagers who were winched to safety by the rescue helicopter after they were swept out to sea by a freak wave.
Both teenagers were taken to hospital. The girl's condition was described as critical.
Gardai have this afternoon confirmed that the teenage girl has died.
The Air Accident Investigation Unit has launched an investigation into what happened, and is asking any members of the public with video footage of the resuce to hand it in.
