Gardai in Cork are examining the scene of a fire in Mallow which killed two men.

The men - aged 36 and 37 died in the blaze at Granary Court on St. Joseph's road.

It's understood that one of the dead men is from Dublin and the other is from Mallow but it's unclear if they were living in or visiting the apartment where a party was taking place.

A man and a woman were rescued from the building and taken to Cork University Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

A full technical examination will be conducted later today to establish the cause of the blaze - but at this stage gardai don't believe there's anything suspicious about the fire.
