Three staff members at two Dublin hospitals have been put off duty following allegations that they accepted gifts and holidays from a medical supplier.

Two of the staff members worked at St Vincent's Hospital in Ballsbridge while one worked at the Beacon Hospital in Sandyford.

The Dáil's health committee is to meet next week to discuss the claims.

Fine Gael TD and Chairman of the Oireachtas Health Committe, Jerry Buttimer, says that if these allegations are true action needs to be taken.

"If the allegations are correct then its very disturbing and disappointing that somebody who is in a position of management and a position of trust would spend money on behalf of an organisation."
