Four water pumps were used last night, to bring a large fire in north Dublin under control.

Residents in Howth were advised to close their windows and doors while Dublin Fire Brigade worked to put out the blaze.

It's understood the blaze on Howth Head started in gorse on the peninsula.

Footage shared on social media show fire fighters tackle the fire, with most of the smoke going out to sea.

Earlier in the evening, the team brought a fire at Donore Avenue in Dublin 8 under control.
