An investigation is underway after a Dublin Bus driver was threatened with a gun in the city centre.

A man boarded the number 13 bus, which was parked at Mountjoy Square, at around 11 o'clock on Friday night, and allegedly pointed a gun at the driver.

It is reported that the Dublin Bus driver suffered the ordeal as he was sitting in the bus before the start of his shift.

Dublin Bus says they are liaising with Gardaí after the incident.

No customers were on board at the time but the 7a and 13 buses are not serving Mountjoy Square after 7pm until further notice.

In a statement, a spokesperson says: "Gardaí received a report of an alleged incident involving a suspected firearm that occurred on Mountjoy Square in Dublin 1 shortly before 11:00pm on Friday night 18th April 2025.

"No injuries were reported. Investigations are ongoing."
