Drinkers are being urged to make cutting back on alcohol their New Year's resolution to reduce their chances of suffering dementia.

The UK's top dementia doctor says most studies suggest large amounts of alcohol increase the risk in later life.

It's estimated almost 680-thousand people in England are living with the condition.
