Drimnagh Shooting Victim Named

Three people remain in garda custody in Dublin following what's believed to be the first gangland murder of the year.

The Justice Minister has condemned the shooting in Drimnagh, describing it as "completely unacceptable."

The 20 year-old victim of this gun attack, that happened in the Knocknarea Road area, has been named locally as Josh Itseli.

He died at the scene in the early hours of yesterday morning after being shot a number of times.

A Mercedes Benz and a Volkswagon Golf were discovered crashed while a number of other vehicles were damaged. A silver ford focus found nearby has been identified as a vehicle of interest.

Gardaí also found a suspected pipe bomb at Knocknarea Court, which had to be made safe.

Armed officers arrested two men and a teenage boy shortly after the shooting, they remain in garda custody.

An incident room has been set up at Sundrive Road Garda Station and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

In particular Gardaí are appealing to anyone with dashcam or other form of vehicle video footage and who were in the Knocknarea Road area between 11.30pm and 12.30pm on the 5th May/ 6th May 2024 to make the footage available.
Officers are also appealing to anyone with CCTV footage in the wider area of Cooley Road, Brandon Road, Errigal Gardens, Crumlin Road, Slievenamon Road, Mourne Road and associated side roads and who were in the Knocknarea Road area between 11.30pm and 12.30pm on Sunday night or early Monday morning to make the footage available to An Garda Síochána.
