An online fundraising drive for a man who died following a one-punch attack in Temple Bar has raised almost €5,000 to cover his funeral.
Gareth O’Connor lost his fight for life less than 24 hours after he was punched at Cow’s Lane on Thursday evening.
Those who knew Gareth O’Connor have been paying tribute to the young father of three online, and they’ve also been paying towards his funeral costs.
His funeral arrangements have yet to be finalised but 145 donations, totalling just over €4,500, have so far been made.
The 27-year-old was from Harelawn Avenue in Clondalkin and a fundraiser to help his partner and three children will also be held in a local pub tomorrow.
Gareth was punched while out socialising with friends last Thursday evening and he died in hospital the following day.
Four men and two women have since been arrested but nobody has been charged in connection with his death.
Gardai are continuing to appeal for information and believe somebody out there has footage of what happened on their mobile phone.
