It's claimed there has been a rise in cases of public sex at Dollymount Strand.

Details of "suspicious" and "weird men" have been chronicled in logbooks compiled by lifeguards.

One account read "reports of two men in dunes without clothes, engaging in sexual acts".

They've also recorded a rise in underage drinking and incidents of people being pricked by used needles.

Chair of Dublin City Council's policing committee Daithi de Róiste plans to raise the issue at the next meeting.

He explained that there is a Garda operation already in place to "target anti-social behaviour in our parks and on our beaches".

However, he claims "it's obviously failed here" and has called for the issue to be "raised at the next committee for updates".

"It's not good enough for people to be going out for walks and coming across drug paraphernalia and things like that", he said.
