Train drivers are to be asked if they want to strike in a row over the new DART timetable.

Irish Rail plans to introduce DART trains every ten minutes.

The National Bus and Rail Union say this is without the agreement of the union's members.

On Wednesday Irish Rail informed trade unions at the Workplace Relations Commission that they were going to move ahead with the plans without the consent of drivers.

The ballot is expected to be completed next week.
