A new initiative is being launched today to encourage Dart commuters to stagger their journeys.

Iarnrod Eireann hopes the move will reduce the level of overcrowding on trains during the morning rush hour.

www.peaktime.ie will provide Dart customers with flexibility in their daily commute to find quieter trains in the morning peak.

Busiest Commute

On average, 14,000 passengers travel on the Dart in the morning compared to 10,000 in the evening.

The launch coincides with the busiest commuting time of the year as third-level students were going back to college.

Iarnrod Eireann says the information on the website will be expanded in the coming months to include all commuter trains in the greater Dublin area.
