New figures show a 33 per cent increase in the number of students being cyberbullied, while 9 per cent of teens admit to being a cyber bully themselves.

A survey released by the National Association Of Principals and Deputy Principals also shows that 15 per cent of parents admit to never checking in on their child's online activity.

NAPD Director Clive Byrne has expressed serious concern about the lack of parental monitoring:

Meanwhile a new online reporting system to tackle bullying in our schools will be launched later this morning.

The Stand Up bullying reporting tool is the brainchild of Westlife star Mark Feehily who's been working with the ISPCC as they launch their third anti-bullying campaign.

Ireland and Leinster rugby star Brian O' Driscoll is also lending his support to the new campaign.
