Culture Night is coming to Dublin on Friday September 18th, 2015. The theme for this year's event in 'Revolves Around You'.
Attendees will get to experience Ireland’s diverse culture at over 200 venues around Dublin.
Dublin City Arts Officer, Ray Yeates is eager to see the diverse culture on the night:
"Irish culture is made up now of everything from our traditional culture right through to new cultures. So how we define culture should be something that really unifies us, that culture is the space of appreciation. Ireland is probably the most talented country in the world per capita. So we have that remarkable talent in Ireland, and this is the night where it really comes out to showcase itself."
Various artists and performers will hit the streets and buildings on the night. One of the acts, Aerial Cirque, will have workshops for both adults and children to try out silks, ropes and even the splits!
Ria Murphy is with Aerial Cirque. She says you're never too late to learn:
"Just give it a try, don't be too scared. Don't think you have to be too strong to do it. Everyone starts at the beginning. Our oldest student is 65."
One of Aerial Cirque's youngest performers is seven year old Sophie. She loves to do the splits on the silks:
"You keep turning around so it's hard to stay at the actual front. So that's what I thought was hard about it."
With all the events open to the public, Culture Night coordinator Aimee van Wylick says this is definitely an event for the whole family:
"I definitely think its an event for the whole family, and all ages. I mean, what I've always found beautiful on culture night is to see families walk the streets of Dublin with their four or five year olds, until 9/9.30pm, because there's plenty of activities for kids to enjoy."
