A woman with Down syndrome who was allegedly raped in a Dublin city apartment will be cross-examined through a live video link this morning.

She claims the man brought her back to his place after she became separated from her mother while out for a run.

A recording of the woman’s direct evidence was played for the jurors yesterday.

She told a special Garda interviewer that she was out for a run with her mother in June 2013 when the pair became separated.

She said her Mum couldn't wait so she kept going and some guy came up to her to see if she was on her own and if she was OK.

She said he walked her back to his place where they had sex and she claims he told her not to tell anyone before leaving her at his door.

The man denies raping her and also pleaded not guilty to sexual assault and a charge of having sex with a “mentally impaired person”.

His defence barrister will be given an opportunity to cross-examine the alleged victim via video link when the trial resumes before the Central Criminal Court this morning.
