Criminals know there's a shortage of Gardai - that's according to the Gardai themselves, who say criminals are ramming their patrol cars and getting away.
Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald says 27 million euro is being invested in Garda vehicles, and at least 500 Gardai will be recruited next year.
When asked about several recent incidents of Garda cars being rammed, Minister Fitzgerald said new vehicles are on the way, and more investment in the Garda force is needed.
The latest batch of 94 recruits at Templemore Garda College - which was on a six year hiatus - will pass out today.
