Thousands of people across the city might have no water over the weekend.

Dublin City Council says it's working to fix a break on a large water main off James' Street.

The areas most likely to be worst affected include:

  • North of the Liffey : Cabra; Glasnevin; Phibsboro; Drumcondra; parts of Doneycarney; Santry and parts of Beaumont.
  • South of the Liffey: Heuston area south to Thomas St and east to Bridgefoot Street.

Work began on the repairs at 6.30AM on Friday, and are likely to continue well into Sunday evening.

If required, water tankers will be made available.
