There have been 26 more coronavirus-related deaths in the Republic, while 701 new cases have also been confirmed.

Including ‘probable’ cases of the virus, a total of 1,087 people have now died after being diagnosed with COVID-19 here.

Two previously reported deaths have also been denotified today.

The latest figures from the Department of Health show the total number of coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 19,262.

As of midnight on Friday, 2,576 cases (14% of the cases reported up until then) had been hospitalised, while 349 COVID-19 patients had been admitted to intensive care.

Meanwhile, 5,064 of the cases - more than a quarter of the total - are associated with healthcare workers.

Dublin remains the county with the most cases, with 9,224 confirmed COVID-19 cases - around half of the total.
