A convicted rapist has been brought into custody after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a young woman on the DART.

It’s the seventh time Paul Moore of Mountjoy Square has appeared in court for rape or sexual assault.

The court’s previously heard there’s conflicting opinion on what causes 51 year old Paul Moore to commit these crimes.

One psychiatric report blamed a head injury he received in 1982 while another blamed an “organic personality disorder.”

In 2001 he raped a musician and in 1995 he raped another woman.

In this latest assault in 2014 - an aupair got on a Southside DART and Moore sat near her and then started touching her breasts and pulled at her trousers.

He wasn’t caught until two years later and in that time he groped two women in separate daylight sexual assaults in the city centre.

He was remanded on bail after two court appearance for the latest offence on the DART as the Judge wanted to hear from his case officers at the Probation Service.

This afternoon they told the Judge that Moore has been compliant with the Service since his release from jail last April.

They said he if he were to receive a suspended or partially suspended sentence he should be sober at all times in public places

The Judge said she wouldn’t finalise sentencing today but indicated he would be three years with 18 months suspended if there was the availability of ongoing urine tests.

Moore has been brought in custody until later this month when his sentence will be finalised.
