A significant amount of childcare facilities are failing to comply with a number of child safety issues.
Concerns have been raised in Tusla's 2015 annual report.
It found that 38 per cent of all creches had not complied with the law to have workers vetted.
It also revealed that 49 percent were not compliant in dealing with hazards such as cord blinds, electric kettles and outdoor areas.
The report comes as it was revealed yesterday that an investigation is underway into claims of a sexual assault at a creche in the east of the country.
