Concerns For Proposed Wind Farm Off Howth Head

Concerns are being raised about a potential windfarm that could be placed in the sea along the Dublin coastline.

There are proposals for up to 50 wind turbines, more than 300 metres in height, to be located 10km from the shore .

An information evening was held in Sutton about the proposal which would be most visible from Howth Head. They are planned for the Kish and Bray Banks and the energy would be brought onto the shore at Carrickmines.

A company called Dublin Array is behind the proposal. Project Director Peter O'LeFroy said  ''We are getting positive engagement  and quite a lot of feedback but we know we have to bring people along with us on the journey. We recognise that we are going to do is visible. It's new and hasn't been done to the same scale in Dublin previously. ''

If given the go ahead, construction isn't due to start for a number of years.  Its slogan is Generation For Generation.
