The Irish Coast Guard is urging people to be careful around the water after it rescued two young people in north County Dublin.

The men in their twenties were found clinging to a buoy in Malahide yesterday evening.

The Irish Coast Guard received a number of emergency calls yesterday evening about two young people in difficulty in the sea at Malahide close to the Grand Hotel.

A boat with a Howth coast guard officer happened to be passing by when it saw the two males out of their depth and clinging to a mooring buoy.

It managed to pick up the two males and drop them ashore to waiting crews and they didnt' require any further attention.

As the good weather continues, the Coast Guard is urging people to be careful in the water and near the coast.

It praised the quick response of the public who rang in the emergency - and is reminding people to immediately contact 999 or 112 if they see anyone in trouble.
