Concerns For Leixlip Intel Jobs As Worldwide Cuts Announced

Concerns are being raised for thousands of jobs at Intel's Irish operations.

The tech giant's announced plans to cut 12-thousand jobs worldwide over the next year.

Intel has a workforce of about four and a half thousand here mainly at its plant in Leixlip County Kildare.

The US chipmaker says it wants to reduce its dependence on the slumping personal computer market.

It's not yet known how the restructuring will affect its Irish staff, however Aidan Donnelly of Davy says it's likely the cuts will be mainly US based:
