Concern Over Potential Cuts to Disability Services

Concerns are being raised about possible cuts to services for people with disabilities this year.

Fianna Fáil claims 100-thousand hours of personal assistance provisions will face the axe this year.

The party claims the HSE's plan for personal assistance has a target of 1.3 million hours for 2016 - compared to 1.4 million supplied in 2015.

The scheme covers activities outside the home - such as shopping, medical appointments, and socialising.

Colm Keavney says cuts will have a serious impact given the difficulty in accessing the service at present:
