The Cliffs of Moher have been selected as our first choice when showing overseas visitors heritage sites in Ireland.
That's according to the fifth National Heritage Survey carried out by Ecclesiastical Ireland.
The research, carried out ahead of National Heritage Week which gets underway later this week, looks at public attitudes to our heritage landmarks.
Thirty three per-cent of those surveyed people said they would pick the world famous cliffs in county Clare as their top spot to take overseas tourists travelling here.
This is followed closely by Newgrange at 32 percent, 19 percent selected the Giant’s Causeway with the Rock of Cashel recording 9 percent.
Although, the Cliffs of Moher emerged as highly popular with respondents, 79 percent admitted it is the heritage site they fear most.
The research also shows the majority of those surveyed visit heritage sites 3 to 4 times a year with Newgrange in county Meath voted our favourite heritage site for the fifth consecutive year.
According to the survey, country Manors and estate houses are the favourite type of all heritage sites in Ireland while, the Giant’s Causeway was awarded the top place to take a date.
