A group that took over a boarded up building on Bolton Street could be evicted from the site.
Members of the Irish Housing Network have spent the last three and a half weeks refurbishing the Bolt Hostel, so that vulnerable families could live there.
They were told that Dublin City Council would consider working with them, but only if they leave the building.
Annemarie Gleeson from Help 4 the Homeless wants something more concrete from the local authority.
"We're looking for something in writing and something to guarantee that they are willing to work with us as a group. We're willing to do the work here."
Protesters gathered outside the Bolt Hostel after activists were told that Dublin City Council was serving them with an injunction.
Councillor Michael O’Brien from the Anti-Austerity Alliance says evicting the group or serving an injunction wouldn't help homeless families.
"We cant have this situation of inflaming matters by bringing the high court into it. The possibility of injunctions being served, of contempt hearings as early as next week, an activist even jailed. This will just escalate matters and I think it'll backfire against the council."
