Dublin City Council are looking at two ways to restore the sea view near Clontarf that’s been blocked by a new wall.
It forms part of the Sutton to Sandymount cycleway and will act as a flood defence along the Coast Road.
Over 600 people attended a public meeting on the matter on Wednesday night where they voiced their opposition to the wall.
Those concerns were brought to a meeting of local representatives and council officials on Thursday.
Senator Averil Power was at that meeting, she says while the council are adamant that the wall has to be built, they are looking at ways to restore the lost view:
"They have agreed to look at alternative options. One is putting a glass top on the wall so people can see through it, that it will be similar to what they have along the quays in Waterford".
"The other option is increasing the height of the road at the point at which the wall is at it's highest so that it would restore some of the view for motorists".
Work on the wall will stop for the winter period and won't start again until April as the area near Bull Island is a nesting ground for Brent geese.
