Candle lit vigil for Mandela in Dublin this evening

A candle lit vigil was held in the capital this evening in memory of Nelson Mandela.

After 10 days of mourning, South-Africa's first black president has been laid to rest.

Thousands of people, including Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams, attended the funeral in Qunu.

Meanwhile, dozens gathered outside the GPO in Dublin earlier to pay their respects to the 95 year old, among them were members of ANC Ireland.

Interim chairman Steven Shaing has paid tribute to the Irish people and thanked them for supporting Mandela's vision:
