Calls To Resolve Differences Over National Maternity Hospital Move

There are calls for the issues between management at St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin and the HSE, to be worked out to allow the development of the new National Maternity Hospital.

It's after it emerged yesterday, that management at the hospital wrote to the Health Minister Leo Varadkar in June, expressing concerns over the relocation of the National Maternity Hospital from Holles Street to the St Vincent's campus.

Management believe the relocation project could have a negative impact on patients.

They are also worried that the 4 year construction period, as well as the impact that the new facility could have on future developments at St. Vincent's.

Fianna Fail's Seanad spokesperson on Health Senator Thomas Byrne, says the new project should be progressing with excellence in maternity care as the top priority:
