Calls For Hotels To Pay Higher TV Licence Fee

Almost all of the TV licence fee goes to RTE and TG4 despite commercial radio stations producing public service content. 

The group that represents independent broadcasters wants the fee to be shared with stations carrying out such programming. 

IBI is also calling on the Government to replace the TV licence fee with a broadcasting charge to crack down on evasion, which sees annual losses of 30 billion euro.

IBI also wants a higher TV licence fee for commercial operations such as hotels.
