The Taoiseach says tribunals that are long done dusted could be challenged because of the garda bugging scandal.

Tuesday's explosive revelations are still causing massive shockwaves.

So far the secret recording of garda station phone calls has caused at least one court case to be put back and called hundreds of convictions into question.

Enda Kenny says we won't know the extent of the damage caused until all the tapes have been listened to.

It's emerged today that back in 2007 Gardai advertised a contract for companies who could set up the digital system of recording private converations.

Independent Dublin TD Shane Ross says it's now clear taxpayers' money was used to buy equipment for illegal means

And he wants the Public Accounts Committee to get some answers:

Meanwhile it's emerged the Data Protection Commissioner was informed of the scandal last week.

He was told by Gardai, four days before the Taoiseach was informed by the Attorney General.
