A Brazilian woman accused of lying about being raped has been given two days to decide if she wants to plead guilty or stand trial.
The 20-year-old is alleged to have lied about being attacked in a laneway in Phibsboro as she made her way to work three months ago.
Gardai began investigating the alleged attack after Thais Regina de Oliveria told them she was attacked on Sunday August 24th.
Detailed descriptions of three men believed to be involved were released to the media and a public appeal for witnesses and information was made.
A technical exam was also carried out at the laneway across from St. Peters Church at Cabra Park where she claimed she was sexually assaulted.
But just twelve days after making her statement to Gardai, she was arrested at a flat she shared with her boyfriend in Cabra Park.
She's accused of wasting Garda time and resources by making what investigating officers now believe was a false claim.
During a previous bail hearing, the court heard investigating officers came close to making an arrest.
The 20-year-old, who's now staying in Blackrock, is due back in court on Friday when she'll be asked if she wants to plead guilty to the charge or fight it by taking a trial date.
