Gardai say they’re investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man’s body in Ballyfermot.
It was found by a passerby at around 6.30 this morning.
A blue tent in the corner of a small green area at the edge of Cherry Orchard Parade covers the man’s body as Gardai await the arrival of someone from the Office of the State Pathologist.
The man, who’s believed to be in his 20s, suffered head injuries and a gun was found nearby.
The area has been sealed off and a number of officers are preserving the scene.
Gardai haven’t confirmed if there’s a criminal element to the man’s death but say they’re keeping an open mind.
They’ll await the results of a post mortem before deciding what form their investigation will take.
