Bewleys on Grafton Street is to close for 6 months for a major refurbishment.
It means the loss of 140 jobs.
The iconic cafe is losing over 1 million euro a year and as a result its shutting its doors next month for a major overhaul.
The 140 staff that work there will be made redundant.
Once reopened in the autumn after a 1 million euro investment, the cafe will be downsized.
It will only operate on the ground floor which will half its seating capacity.
Opening hours will be reduced and it will offer a more limited range of food with just 70 employees.
