127 dead and 99 in critical condition following a series of terror attacks in Paris

The French President Francois Hollande's described last night's co-ordinated attacks across Paris, in which 127 people were killed as an 'act of war' and blamed Islamic State.

It's thought as many as 180 others have been injured - among them an Irish citizen.

The attacks targeting concert-goers, football fans and people enjoying nights out.

The deadliest incident was at a music venue, the Bataclan, where gunmen held audience members hostage before blowing themselves up as police stormed the building.

Simultaneous blasts also went off outside the national football stadium where France were playing Germany.

Eight terrorists were killed, seven of them in suicide attacks.

The French President, Francois Hollande, described the attacks as 'barbaric'.

Meanwhile, the Department of Foreign of Affairs says the Embassy in Paris and the Department in Dublin are actively monitoring the situation in Paris.
