Arrests Made Following Paris Attacks

There have been a number of arrests as police across Europe try to find those linked to Friday's terror attacks in Paris.

129 people died and 350 were injured – including one Irish person - during a series of shootings and bombings.

Friday’s attacks were the first time suicide bombers operated on French soil, leaving authorities unable to detain those immediately responsible.

But details are now emerging about one of the suicide bombers.

He was Ismael Omar Mostefai, from the Parisian suburb of Courcouronne.

The Frenchman was known to be close to radical Islam, but had never been linked to terrorism.

Mr Mostefai’s father and brother have been arrested.

Elsewhere, three other people with links to Islamic State have been arrested in Belgium.

IS has claimed responsibility for the coordinated attacks.

France begins three days of national mourning today, while Irish flags will fly at half mast in solidarity with the victims of the attacks.

In Paris itself Parisians have been gathering near the Bataclan theatre - the scene of the worst atrocity - to pay their respects:
