Today will see a renewed effort to trace the mother of a baby found on a Dublin roadside last Friday.

Gardai are to speak to the media about their investigation, to try and raise public awareness of the case.

The baby girl is thought to have been no more than three days old when she was found on the Steelstown road, near Rathcoole and close to the N7.

She was found wrapped in a plastic bag, when a motorist stopped at the scene by chance.

The infant is now being cared for at the Coombe hospital.

This morning investigating officers will step up their appeal for information about the baby's mother.

They're stressing she's not in trouble and that they want to make contact in case she also needs medical care or support.
