A custody hearing, which got underway yesterday, to decide whether or not the family of a Limerick man, killed in the US, can raise his children in Ireland, has been adjourned until next week.

39-year old Jason Corbett died on August 2nd last, after sustaining critical head injuries in a domestic incident at his home in North Carolina.

His wife Molly Martens, who is reported to be a suspect along with her father Thomas Martens, is fighting Mr Corbett's sister Tracey Lynch for custody of ten year old Jack Corbett and his eight year old sister Sarah.

The children's mother, Mags Fitzpatrick, died following an asthma attack in 2006.

His family say they are distraught by the adjournment saying it will be another week of agony before they know if they can bring the children back to Ireland.
