Amnesty International says Ireland’s abortion laws constitute a ‘deliberate denial of care’ putting women’s lives at risk.

The NGO has launched a major international report calling for the Eighth Amendment to be changed or repealed.

It says Irish law is forcing women to carry dead or unviable foetuses for weeks or months - at a risk to their lives and physical and mental health.

4-thousand women travel abroad for terminations every year.

Amnesty InternationalÂ’s Secretary General Salil Shetty says the situation is completely unacceptable.
