Irish Rail is in talks hoping to avoid a work stoppage by drivers this Friday, ahead of the October bank holiday weekend.
DART, Commuter and Intercity drivers are threatening to walk off the job between 6AM and 9AM in a row with company management.
On the way into talks this afternoon all sides said they were hopeful that a deal could be reached to avert action.
The dispute centres around past productivity for rail drivers.
Stoppages are planned for this Friday and again on November 6th.
Both the National Bus and Rail Union and SIPTU say drivers don’t want to take action, while Irish Rail says it's hopeful a deal can be reached.
