The Data Protection Commissioner is investigating comments the Justice Minister made about the Independent TD Mick Wallace on live television.
A complaint's been made that Minister Alan Shatter may have breached the data protection laws, when he revealed on RTE's Prime Time, that Gardaí had stopped and cautioned Deputy Wallace on his mobile phone, while driving.
The Data Protection Commissioner, Billy Hawkes, says Minister Shatter could face a fine.
