A newborn baby is being treated in hospital this morning after being discovered abandoned in South county Dublin yesterday afternoon.
At around 3:30pm, a passer-by discovered the baby girl wrapped in a plastic bag and making noises close to a business premises at Steelstown Road in Rathcoole.
Gardai attended the scene of what they are calling a 'medical incident' where the infant was discovered alone and alive.
The child was was taken to Tallaght Hospital for treatment where she remains in a stable condition.
Gardaí are concerned for the welfare of the mother and are appealing for her to seek immediate medical treatment.
