A man is in a serious condition in hospital after an assault in Dublin early this morning.
It happened at just after 5 o'clock.
The man in his early twenties was assaulted near the junction of Camden St and Harrington St.
He received head injuries during the assault and was rushed to St James's Hospital for treatment.
Gardai believe the suspect, also in his twenties, ran off in the direction of Wexford Street.
They say he has black hair and was wearing a dark top and blue jeans.
The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination.
Gardai are reviewing CCTV footage.
They're appealing for information and would especially like to hear from a number of people who gathered around to help the injured man as he lay on the footpath prior to the arrival of the ambulance.
