Calling all coffee lovers!
A number of small independent coffee shops will be handing out free coffee to the public today. It's in response to Starbucks opening it's 53rd location on 4 Crampton Quay.
Officially there's 3 key times when you can grab a free coffee but each coffee shop is free to participate how they choose. The times are between 8am-9am, 1pm-2pm and 5pm-7pm.
Ciaran Hogan, Owner and Director of The Clockwork Door in Temple Bar is one of them and he told 98FM news "I talked to a few other small independent places and again they are getting by and they are finding it difficult with some of the larger chains and international companies being able to come in and get away with opening so many stores because they have this international backing."
He added: "It's gotten to the point where it's ridiculous, I don't believe that they would be responsive and they would actually care. We don't see them as being communicable and in touch with the business community in Dublin City Centre and really trying to promote small businesses."
